What a great post, Simone. I requested that the Austin Public Library purchase your book! Recovering from a crash usually involves getting hours of sleep; relaxed, no-pressure swimming and/or cycling, balanced out with no-strings-or-expectations drawing or baking. :-)

Thanks so much Mary. Appreciated that you requested the book for you library in Austin! How cool. I did come out of the crash thankfully but I'm really quite tired and in need of a rest and your suggestions are all things I love especially the cycling. Actually I find baking a bit stressful but I like the idea of it. Thank you!

You're welcome, Simone, and hooray for cycling! I can see where baking can be stressful, too! So happy you're post-crash and in the "recovery" stage. Rest can be key, as well as great nourishment. "Slow by slow" as Jim likes to say. I hope you have a great weekend, too.

I really connected with this post! I am not a creative as such but I understand the whole crisis of confidence. Like you, I got my driving licence later in life and I drove my mum's car into a gatepost... Whoopsie! Whenever I am having a wobble, I try to embrace the "feel the fear and do it anyway" ethos but it only works some of the time... I have read your latest book and would love to review it. Where would be best to post, besides Amazon?

Hello Clare! Great to hear from you. Glad that I'm not the only one crashing parent's cars. Thanks for reading the new book and offering to review it, I think GoodReads is a great place too. Much appreciated X

Thanks for reminding me about the thought highway and the reason "why?" This has helped me rethink a goal of mine. Onward and upward.🚀

Thank you Roland, that's really great to hear. Yes onward and upward with your why and your goal!

I imagine most creative people can identify with this. A friend of mine sent me a Charlie Chaplin quote which I have pinned to the inside of my desk –

You have to believe in yourself – that’s the secret.

Easier said than done.

As for your book, I confess that I’m not buying books at the moment as I have too many and too few bookshelves and too little money. But I am requesting things at the library. Your book isn’t available. Fluffy was, so I checked that out and loved it. I hope you are registered with DACS who distribute a portion of library lending fees. Anyway, perhaps you could contact libraries and ask them to stock your book. I’ll do that with mine.

Thanks Alex, yes I think most creative people have these kinds of crashing blips but when you're in it it feels like you're the only one. Self-belief is essential as is the 'why' but I also think that the crashing blips as horrible as they are, are also an important part of the creative process.

Thanks for the library reminder, love the libraries and I am registered with PLR for that. So good.
